Building Process of a handcrafted log home – what to expect

Peeled logs The log home shell pre-fab construction begins at our log yard in Campbell River. Working from the fully engineered set of the the building plans, the logs are debarked and then handpeeled.

Here the pre-fabrication begins piece by piece on a temporary but accurate and solid foundation.

Log corners and windows

prepping log posts

From here the log walls are built, posts are prepped and the structure goes together complete with post and beam roof system (this takes between 2-4 months depending on size and complexity of the house). Our 30 ton hydraulic crane with 100 ft. of boom does all the lifting from one location.

All electrical locations for plugs and switches are pre-drilled on center of the log walls as the logs go on the building. Each location has a flat spot with mortise to accomodate box and face plate.

Cutting window opening

Door and window openings are cut out and finished to precise measurements to accept door and window frames.
